Job summary

American Traveler seeks an experienced ER RN for a 13-week night shift assignment at a Critical Access Hospital and Level III trauma center in California.

Requires CA RN license, current BLS/ACLS/PALS/TNCC/NIHSS, and at least 2 years of recent ER experience. COVID vaccination and Relias/sterile technique tests required. housing and licensure reimbursements offered.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIHSS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience within the last 3 years.
• COVID vaccination required.
• Must pass Relias Dysrhythmia exam before offer.
• Must pass sterile technique test on first day of orientation.
• Two professional references: supervisor (last 12 months) and peer/supervisor (last 3 years) with dates and rehiring eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Acute care ER in an 11-bed/trauma bay with Level III trauma status.
• Uses Cerner EMR and 12-hour night shifts (19:00–07:30) with some day shifts (07:00–19:30).
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required.
• Possible on-call up to 3 cut/call shifts per 13-week contract.
• Floating to ICU is desirable but ER RNs float first.
• Triage duties performed by travelers; no separate ER holding area.
• CT/X-ray adjacent; RN draws labs and phlebotomy support available.
• Navy blue scrubs required; orientation weekly.

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ER RN for a 13-week night shift assignment at a Critical Access Hospital and Level III trauma center, requiring CA RN licensure and at least 2 years of recent ER experience.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience within the last 3 years required
• COVID vaccination required
• Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam (basic or advanced) prior to confirmed offer
• Must pass a sterile technique test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on first day of orientation
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Responsibilities

• Acute care setting within an 11-bed/trauma bay Emergency Department
• Critical Access Hospital with Level III verified trauma status
• Uses Cerner EMR
• 12-hour night shifts (1900-0730), with some day shift (0700-1930) scheduling
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required
• Possible on-call requirement of up to 3 cut/call shifts per 13-week contract
• Floating to ICU is desirable but not required; ER RNs are first to float
• Single triage room; travelers expected to perform triage duties
• No separate ER holding area; ER RNs manage their own holds
• No separate Psych/seclusion rooms
• In-house security available
• 20-40 patients per day with state ratios of no more than 1:4
• Widely varied patient diagnoses across all ages
• 1 MD on-site at all times; no charge nurse, but 1 House Supervisor always on duty
• Unit techs available from 1200-2030 when staffed
• RT provides vent, CPAP, BiPAP, High-flow NC, and Airvo support, including ABGs, breathing treatments, and EKGs
• No monitor techs; RNs read their own telemetry strips
• CT and X-ray immediately adjacent to the ED with no transport team
• Phlebotomy support available; RN draws labs when starting IVs
• Unit-specific orientation provided, with general orientation held every Monday
• Navy blue scrub color required
• Candidates who failed Relias and/or sterile technique testing twice are ineligible for 6 months at this health system's Sacramento region and Arizona facilities
• Candidates directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by this health system within the past year are not eligible; PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
• First-time travelers may be considered
