Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular IMC/Step-Down (CVPCU) unit, requiring cardiac open heart recovery experience and travel assignments.

The unit consists of 32 beds with 12 monitored beds and 20 telemetry/non-monitored beds; care includes post-CABG/valve cases and LVAD/heart-lung transplant patients. Orientation occurs monthly; Johns Hopkins Main setting experience is preferred; local candidates are welcome at the same pay rate.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Maryland or Compact) required.
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS and Critical Care Certification preferred.
• Minimum 2 years cardiac open heart recovery experience required.
• Strong Surgical IMC experience required.
• ICU experience required for management of high acuity IMC patients.
• Minimum of 2 previous travel assignments required.
• Experience in a comparable facility size (500+ beds) required.
• Epic EMR experience required.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 32-bed Cardiovascular IMC surgical step-down unit (CVPCU) caring for post-op cardiac, vascular, and thoracic patients.
• 12 beds provide continuous IMC cardiac monitoring; remaining 20 beds are telemetry or non-monitored level of care.
• Care for patients 1+ days post-CABG, valve repairs, and valve replacements, including heavy cardiovascular post-op step-down cases.
• Specialized care for patients with Mechanical Circulatory Support devices such as LVADs and heart/lung transplant recipients.
• Mixed-acuity patient assignments with ratios typically 1:3 during the day and 1:4 at night.
• Day shift 12-hour schedule, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
• Uses Epic EMR.
• Orientation held on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month.
• Multidisciplinary team setting focused on cardiac and vascular surgical recovery.
• Strong candidates preferred given the complexity and acuity of the Johns Hopkins Main setting.
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate.
