Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit in Goldsboro, NC. The role requires a NC or Compact RN license, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and CPI-A certifications, and at least one year of nursing experience.

The position features a 36-hour week, 12-hour night shifts, and on-call duties. Benefits include insurance, 401(k), housing allowance, travel reimbursement, and more for travel nurses.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required.
• BLS certification required (AHA or ARC).
• ACLS, NIHSS, and CPI-A certifications required.
• Minimum one year of nursing experience required.
• Nursing Diploma, ADN, or ASN from an accredited nursing school required.
• BSN or MSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for a 14-bed adult medical/cardiac unit (CHF, post-cath/pacemaker, COPD).
• Maintain patient ratio 1:6 with 1–2 admissions per day.
• Night shift: 7:00pm–7:00am; 36 hours/week, 12-hour shifts, 3 days/week.
• On-call standby 1 shift every 2 weeks; weekend coverage up to 4 shifts if needed.
• Deliver competent clinical nursing care to patients with complex medical and cardiac conditions.
• Coordinate patient care using the nursing process and report to Nurse Manager/Director.
• Participate in patient education, discharge planning, and interdisciplinary coordination.
• Perform bedside point-of-care testing as part of the care plan.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams; address cultural/ethnic considerations.
• Opportunities for growth: charge nurse, preceptor, clinical ladder.
• Holiday coverage not required.
