American Traveler is seeking a travel Respiratory Therapist (NICU) in Seattle, WA, for a Level IV NICU teaching hospital. RRT certification and NICU/critical care experience required; duties include caring for adult and neonatal patients, ECMO and airways management. Night shifts are 12 hours, 3x per week, with 36 hours weekly.

Start date is November 2, 2026, for a 13-week assignment. Floating to adult floors/ICU as needed; EPIC charting used; on-call not required.

Qualifications

• RRT certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of critical care experience, including NICU or adult critical care.
• Teaching hospital experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Provide respiratory care across Adult ICU, ED and NICU.
• Manage neonatal/pediatric equipment and procedures (Bubble CPAP, CPAP, ECMO, jet ventilator, IMV/SIMV, oscillating ventilator).
• Assist with high-risk deliveries and neonatal transports.
• Perform intubation assistance and airway management.
• Administer medications via aerosol, MDI and nebulizers.
• Care for ARDS, pneumonia, and other respiratory conditions.

Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Level IV NICU position at a teaching hospital, requiring RRT certification and combined adult critical care/NICU experience.

Details

• Level IV NICU setting within a teaching hospital, with willingness to float to Adult floor and ICU units
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Weekend work as needed by the unit
• Floating within the hospital required, no floating to sister hospitals
• No on-call requirement
• Uses EPIC charting system

Requirements

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification required
• BLS, NRP required; ACLS and PALS preferred
• Washington State Respiratory license required if applicable
• Minimum 2 years of experience in critical care setting, which may combine Adult critical care and NICU (Level 3/4), or be NICU experience alone
• Adult-only RRT experience does not meet requirement
• Teaching hospital experience required
• LTAC and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• Experience with Level IV NICU work history required
• Experience with ECMO and high frequency jet ventilator preferred
• Experience with Servo U ventilator

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory care across Adult critical care, Emergency Department, and NICU settings
• Manage neonatal/pediatric equipment and procedures including Bubble CPAP, CPAP/Nasal CPAP/BIPAP, ECMO, high frequency jet ventilator, IMV/SIMV, oscillating ventilator, and pressure/volume ventilators
• Assist with high-risk deliveries and neonatal inter-departmental transports
• Perform intubation assist, extubation, and airway management including suctioning and nasal/oral airway placement
• Administer medications via aerosol, MDI, and nebulizer delivery systems
• Care for patients with ARDS, aspiration, bronchoscopy needs, COVID, cystic fibrosis, fresh tracheostomy, and pneumonia
• Perform chest physiotherapy, arterial blood gas draws and interpretation, and pulmonary hygiene procedures
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates accepted at same rate, no radius restriction
• Prior UW staff must have 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
• RTO limited to 1 week maximum, with no RTO accommodated during first 2 weeks of assignment
• COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
• Scrubs may be any color
