Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for stepdown-level patients, including monitoring, administering medications, IV therapy, and ongoing assessments; implement and adjust care plans per physician orders
• Float to stepdown/ICU and medical-surgical units as needed, maintaining safe, effective care within unit protocols
• Maintain appropriate patient-to-nurse ratios and prioritize patient safety, using critical thinking to elevate concerns
• Document thoroughly in the Epic EMR, including assessments, plan of care, and timely communication with the care team
• Respond to codes as trained (BLS/ACLS) and support interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, respiratory therapy, and ancillary staff to coordinate care and discharge planning
