Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care on the Observation Unit, including assessments, monitoring, and timely documentation in the Epic EMR
- Monitor telemetry; interpret telemetry readouts (BCRA) and administer indicated therapies per physician orders
- Float to related Med‑Surg units and, when appropriately skilled, the ED to support patient care needs
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care, discharge planning, and patient/family education
- Maintain patient safety, infection control, and adherence to unit policies; complete accurate shift reporting and handoff communication
- Demonstrate competency in EMR usage and telemetry‑related skills; readiness for day‑one competency checks
Requirements
- Active RN license in Ohio
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 3 years of Telemetry/Med‑Surg experience; ability to read Telemetry/BCRA; competency assessed on day one
- Epic EMR proficiency required (refresher training or one‑on‑one support not available)
- Ability to float to other Med‑Surg units and possibly the ED; willingness to work nights 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.; every other weekend
- Education: Registered Nurse program completion; eligible for Ohio RN licensure
