Job summary

Healthforce is seeking a Registered Nurse for an Observation Unit travel assignment in Atlanta, GA. This 14-week, 48-hour-per-week position combines 2x4 night shifts in a hospital setting, supporting patients across acuity levels near the ED.

You will provide bedside care, monitor vitals, administer meds, document in the EHR, and collaborate with ED staff, physicians, and case managers to coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges.

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in Georgia.
• Minimum 2 years RN experience in acute care.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS required; TNCC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care for adults in the observation unit, including ongoing assessment and monitoring of vital signs, labs, and response to therapies.
• Triage and prioritize patient needs, escalating changes in condition to the appropriate team promptly.
• Administer prescribed medications and IV therapies, manage tubing, lines, and devices per policy.
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately in the electronic health record; ensure regulatory and patient safety standards are met.
• Collaborate with ED staff, physicians, case managers, and ancillary teams to coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges; participate in handoffs and care planning.
• Maintain unit efficiency while supporting a fast-paced flow of patients with varying acuity.

You will work in a hospital-based inpatient Observation Unit supporting patients with a range of acuity levels, located near the ED. This travel assignment requires adapting to a fast-paced environment and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team while providing high-quality bedside care.

Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Georgia
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in an acute care setting, preferably in an observation unit or ICU environment
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS required; TNCC preferred
• Ability to work a 2x4 night schedule and to float to other areas of competency as needed
• Willingness to work holidays as part of the assignment
