Job summary

Mercy Health in Defiance, Ohio is seeking a Phlebotomist to join the Defiance Hospital team. The phlebotomist will draw blood samples, prepare specimens for lab testing, and perform essential clerical duties to support the Laboratory Department.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or GED required or equivalent.
• One-year phlebotomy experience preferred but not required.
• Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides excellent customer service by greeting patients and the community in a respectful manner.
• Collects all specimens according to established procedures and ensures proper processing.
• Identifies patients accurately and matches identity with the correct service for patient safety.
• Performs data entry and processing of specimens by labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing as ordered.
• Performs departmental clerical duties such as inventory checks, stock supplies, and answering phones.
• Troubleshoots and resolves problems promptly.
• Other duties as assigned.
