Job summary

P&E Constructors, LLC is seeking a Cost Controls Analyst to manage budgets, monitor actuals, forecasts, and billing for shop and fabrication projects across the United States. The role partners with Project Controls, Estimating, Accounting, and Operations to safeguard margins.

Applicants should have 3–7 years in project cost control, strong Excel, and ERP experience (Viewpoint/Sage/CMiC). This full-time position includes per diem, travel support, and ESOP ownership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, business administration, or related field.
  • 3–7 years of experience in project cost control, job cost accounting, or a similar financial/project controls role.
  • Experience with ERP-based job costing systems such as Viewpoint, Sage, CMiC, or similar platforms
  • Strong understanding of project cost forecasting, including EAC and ETC
  • Experience with change order pricing, cost impact analysis, and change management
  • Strong Excel skills, including the ability to analyze large amounts of cost and project data
  • Understanding of construction or fabrication cost structures, including labor, materials, subcontractors, equipment, and indirect costs
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to identify cost trends, explain variances, and communicate financial information clearly to project and operational teams
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet recurring reporting deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Budget Setup & Maintenance: Build and maintain project cost budgets using WBS and cost codes.
  • Labor Cost Control: Review timesheet coding; correct miscoding and reconcile labor to payroll.
  • Commitments & Material Cost Tracking: Track POs, commitments, receipts, and invoices.
  • Forecasting & Cost Reporting: Prepare cost reports with actual costs, ETC, EAC, variances.
  • Change Order Management: Support pricing and financial analysis for changes and scope impacts.
  • Billing & Cash Management: Support progress billings with required backup and records.
  • Cost Analysis & Continuous Improvement: Analyze cost performance and compare to estimates.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Align cost data with project teams and operations
