Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Mount Vernon, Illinois. The PCU Travel Nurse will care for patients who require close monitoring and frequent assessment, typically not unstable enough for ICU, on 12-hour night shifts across a 36-hour weekly schedule over a 13-week contract.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of recent acute care experience and holds BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of recent acute care experience.
• PCU RN role and 12-hour night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care; stabilize critical cardiac patients.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting adverse reactions.
• Monitor and adjust equipment and interpret electronic displays.
• Initiate corrective action when monitoring indicates adverse symptoms.
