Job summary

TotalMed RN seeks a travel RN for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Plano, TX. This 13-week assignment requires 36 hours per week, with 12-hour night shifts. Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of acute care experience and PCU (step-down) exposure.

ACLS/BLS and NIH are required, with additional certs possibly needed. The PCU nurse will monitor patients requiring close observation, titrate medications, and respond to changes in status.

Qualifications

• ACLS and BLS certifications are required.
• NIH certification is required.
• Minimum 1 year of acute care nursing experience.
• 1–2 years of recent acute care experience preferred for PCU.
• Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care and stabilize cardiac patients.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medications and report adverse reactions.
• Monitor and interpret equipment and patient data from monitoring systems.
• Initiate corrective action when monitoring indicates adverse symptoms.
