Job summary

Nurses Direct is seeking a dedicated surgical technologist in Shreveport, United States, to join their team. This position involves preparing the operating room, ensuring sterility, assisting during surgeries, and performing wound care. Candidates must have surgical tech training and current BLS certification, with a preference for clinical specialty certification.

Qualifications

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
• Knowledgeable about human anatomy and surgical procedures.
• Ability to stand for long periods and remain alert during operations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and ensure it is safe and sterile.
• Wash and disinfect incision sites, transporting patients as needed.
• Pass sterile instruments and supplies to surgeons, maintaining a sterile field.
• Count supplies to ensure no foreign objects are left in patients during surgery.
• Perform wound care and restock the operating room post-surgery.
• Participate in quality improvement of surgical practices.
