Job summary

TotalMed is seeking an OR Travel Nurse for a 13-week assignment in Woodsville, NH. The role is 36 hours per week, dayshift, travel contract. Responsibilities include circulating/scrub duties in the OR, patient education, and collaboration with physicians. Certifications (ACLS, BLS, PALS) are required.

The position emphasizes safety, efficient instrument handling, and adherence to sterile technique, with potential for RN first assistant duties.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years recent acute care experience as a circulating nurse and/or scrub nurse
• 1-2 years experience; RN first assistant potential

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medications, reporting adverse reactions.
• Serve as liaison between patients' families and the operating team.
• Ensure correct procedures are performed on the correct patient.
• Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician; teach patients and families home care needs.
• Respond to comfort and safety needs of patient.
• Handle specimens with care; monitor surgical equipment.
• Inventory of surgical items pre- and post-procedure.
• Select and handle surgical instruments during procedures.
• Inventory of surgical items pre- and post-procedure.
• Assist physicians by delivering direct surgical care; help control bleeding; suture patients after surgery.
