Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking an operating room travel nurse in Alexandria, LA. This role requires 1–2 years of acute care experience as circulating or scrub nursing, and possibly RN first assist. The assignment is 13 weeks at 40 hours per week, with dayshift, and travel benefits through TotalMed RN.

As an OR Travel Nurse you will support physicians, provide pre/post-surgery education, and manage instrument handling and patient safety in the OR. ACLS/BLS certifications are required.

Qualifications

• ACLS and BLS certifications required.
• 1–2 years of acute care experience as a circulating nurse, and/or scrub nurse, and/or RN first assistant.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and staff in caring for surgical patients, including pre- and post-surgery education.
• Work as circulating OR nurse outside sterile field or scrub nurse inside sterile field, with instrument handling responsibilities.
• Prepare instruments, monitor patient during surgery, and respond to potential complications with the team.
• Provide basic bedside care and administer prescribed medications, recording Treatments.
