Job summary

Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN First Assist for a travel assignment in Mauston, Wisconsin, starting 11/02/2026. The role requires RN licensure in Wisconsin and completion of an RNFA program or equivalent, with BLS within 6 months and OR experience preferred.

The assignment runs 6 weeks with 40 hours per week, nights, 10-hour shifts. The OR First Assistant will support the surgical team, prepare sterile supplies, assist with hemostasis and closures, and manage drainage.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license in Wisconsin.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Completion of an accredited RN First Assistant (RNFA) program or other recognized first-assisting education program.
• BLS certification within 6 months of hire.
• At least 1 year of related operating room/surgical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgical team with preparing sterile supplies and positioning patients.
• Provide visualization and hemostasis during procedures.
• Assist with wound closure and applying dressings.
• Manage drainage systems and assist with equipment (pneumatic tourniquets, electrocautery, endoscopy).
