Job Summary

Surgical Technician/Operating Room Tech travel position for an experienced surgical technologist supporting a high-volume acute care operating room. The role involves evening shifts, weekend coverage approximately once per month, and on-call responsibilities as needed. The surgical technologist will support general, trauma, orthopedic, neurosurgical, gynecologic, urologic, plastic, oral, and Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) procedures.

Job Details

• Schedule: Evening shift from 1:00 PM to 11:00 PM, four 10-hour shifts per week, with a minimum of 40 hours per week. Weekend coverage is required approximately once per month for a total of 16 hours. On-call coverage is required as needed.
• Required Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years of experience; travel experience required; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Level I trauma experience required; experience in general operating room, teaching hospital, and trauma settings; competency in aseptic technique, isolation precautions, radiation safety, sharps safety, specimen handling and labeling, and Universal Protocol time-out procedures; experience with fire safety, drills, electrosurgical units, and fiber-optic light sources and cords; proficiency with required Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT), endoscopic, general surgery, gynecology, neurosurgery, oral, orthopedic, plastic surgery, trauma, and urology procedures.
• Preferred Qualifications: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification and teaching hospital experience.
• Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information: The role supports adolescents, adults, pediatric patients, and geriatric patients in a 23-room operating room environment with an average daily volume of 5060 cases. Clinical coverage includes a broad range of procedures and diagnoses, excluding ophthalmology and cardiothoracic cases. Equipment may include robotic surgical systems and multiple microscopes. Orientation includes 40 hours, with the first day conducted virtually from home.
