Overview

American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN OR - Operating Room for a travel nursing job in Wheeling, West Virginia.

Position: OR - Operating Room, RN | Travel

• Specialty: OR - Operating Room

• Duration: 13 weeks
• 40 hours per week
• Shift: 10 hours, days
• Employment Type: Travel

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care hospital's preoperative area known as the surgical center (not a free-standing surgical center).
• Handle all surgical procedures, including same-day and overnight cases.
• Unit consists of 15 suites and manages 55–70 cases per day.
• Preop care only—scrubbing not required for RNs.
• Shifts consist of 4 ten-hour days from 7a-5p, with additional schedule options of 6-2, 7-3, 8-4, or 9-5.
• Rotating weekend shifts include one weekend day every four weeks and 24-hour second call during weekends on a rotating basis.
• Call response time requirement is 30 minutes.
• Floating may be required to the OR holding area.
• Documentation is done in Allscripts with transition to Epic starting April 1.
• Primary responsibilities include preoperative patient assessment and care.
• OR scrubs and dress code are provided by the facility.
• Orientation is provided specific to the surgical center/preop area.
• Must be comfortable with high-volume, fast-paced surgical setting.
• First-time travelers will be considered.
• Holiday and weekend call rotation is required.

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required.
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room experience.
• Current BLS certification.
• Strong IV skills and experience with surgical care, including robotics.
• Must provide an unexpired driver's license for consideration.
• Epic and Allscripts charting experience preferred.
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility.
• Candidates cannot have worked at any WVU Medicine location within the past 2 years and are limited to 1 year cumulative travel assignment within WVU before a 2-year break is required.
