Job summary

TotalMed is seeking a travel nurse RN Telemetry in Marion, Illinois for a 13-week assignment on a Neuro MS/TELE unit. The role requires 48 hours per week with 12-hour night shifts. RN licensure in Illinois and neuro telemetry / Med Surg experience are essential.

The unit is a 22-bed Neuro area with a 1:4 nurse–patient ratio; occasional float to medical unit may be required. EPIC charting experience and NIHSS proficiency are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active IL RN license with eligibility for a temporary IL license.
• Two years of Med Surg/TELE experience with neuro emphasis preferred.
• Neuro telemetry on a 22-bed unit; strong assessment and critical thinking required.

Responsibilities

• Provide neuro telemetry care for Neuro and Neuro-Surgical patients.
• Perform strict I&Os, neuro assessments, and administer gtt meds.
• Collaborate with float pool and charge nurse on assignments.
• Utilize EPIC for charting and patient documentation.

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Marion, Illinois.

UNIT: Neuro MS/TELE RN
MGR INTERVIEW

Required Certs: Must have current active IL RN license (will accept an active temp IL License). AHA BLS, AHA ACLS and NIHSS.

Minimum Experience REQUIRED: Two years of strong Med Surg/TELE, 1 travel assignment. Neuro experience required

Float Requirement: Could float to the medical unit

Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Every other weekend. Every other holiday.

Charting Experience: Recent EPIC experience required
Patient Population: Neuro and Neuro-Surgical patients - CVAs, elective back/neck surgeries, cerebral angiogram. General medical

Skillset: Will also need to be comfortable taking medical overflow patients.
NIHSS/dysphagia screen/strong Neuro assessments, basic tele interpretation, strict I’s & O’s/straight cath/Foleys, intitate/titrate heparin gtts., blood/blood product administration/venipuncture/blood cultures, NG tubes, indwelling drain management, stable gtts. (i.e. Protonix, Lasic, etc.). Must have strong assessment and critical thinking skills!
