Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a travel PACU RN for a 13-week assignment in Midland, Texas. The role involves day shift coverage in a Level II trauma hospital, with 40 hours per week and travel benefits.

Ideal candidates have PACU or surgical recovery experience, pediatric and critical care exposure, and certifications (BLS/ACLS/PALS). Active Texas RN license and Cerner charting familiarity are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work in the PACU unit of a Level II trauma hospital.
• Care for adult and pediatric surgical patients (excluding open heart).
• Recover patients from surgeries (Plastic, Urology, Dental, Gynecology).
• Manage nerve blocks, chest tubes, central lines, intubation, arterial lines as needed.
• Cover day shifts (5x8 hours) with 12:00–20:30 schedule.
• Provide postoperative monitoring and care.
• Assist with Pre-Op coverage as needed.
• Respond to holiday coverage requirements.

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PACU RN with critical care and pediatric experience for a day shift assignment in a Level II trauma setting.

Responsibilities

• Work in the PACU unit of a Level II trauma hospital
• Patient population includes adult and pediatric surgical cases except open heart procedures
• Recover patients from Plastic, Urology, Dental, and GYN surgeries
• Experience with nerve blocks, chest tube insertions, central lines, intubation, and arterial lines required
• Day shifts (5x8 hours) from 12:00 to 20:30
• Call is required
• Must assist with coverage in Pre-Op
• Responsible for postoperative monitoring and care of patients following surgery
• Must be comfortable recovering both adult and pediatric patients across multiple specialties
• Holiday coverage may be expected
• On-site drug screening required prior to start
• Pending RN license will be considered but must be active by assignment start date
• Time off requests must be submitted for consideration
• Local candidates within 50 miles will not be considered

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of PACU or relevant surgical recovery experience preferred
• Experience with pediatric and critical care patients strongly preferred
• Experience with Cerner charting system preferred
