Job Responsibilities
- Use the nursing process to assess patient needs, plan and implement individualized interventions, and evaluate care effectiveness. Involve patients and families in care planning and maintain therapeutic relationships throughout the healthcare continuum.
- Recognize and respond to significant changes in patient condition, providing ongoing assessment and adjusting the care plan as needed. Collaborate with the healthcare team to coordinate patient-centered care.
- Implement strategies to reduce patient risks and enhance safety. Assess and individualize patient and family education, developing strategies to meet their learning needs.
- Coordinate discharge planning using an interdisciplinary approach, applying evidence-based practices and adhering to nursing and regulatory standards.
- Continuously evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes, taking appropriate actions when necessary. Support quality improvement initiatives and shared governance activities.
- Demonstrate effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution skills. Promote collaboration and assume leadership roles within the care team, delegating appropriately.
- Promote a safety culture by identifying threats, reporting safety events, and assisting in corrective actions.
- Apply ethical decision-making, show respect for peers and disciplines, and participate in forming an unbiased, individualized care approach.
- Engage in quality and process improvement initiatives to enhance department functions and patient experiences.
- Participate in professional development activities, including meetings, educational programs, and annual competencies.
- Provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development principles, and interpret patient data to meet age-specific needs.
Minimum Requirements
- RN license issued by the practicing state
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA
- Completion of an accredited nursing program
- Typically 1 year of operating room nursing experience
