Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a GA or compact RN license and strong Med/Tele skills.

Responsibilities

• Work within inpatient hospital Med/Surg and Telemetry units
• Units have 20-36 beds with adult patient population
• RN to patient ratio is 1:4-6
• Required to float to all Med/Surg and Telemetry units as needed
• 12-hour day shifts, 7A-7P, with 36-hour workweek options
• Weekend rotation is 3 weekends within a 6-week schedule
• Holiday shifts required (must work select dates in November, December, and January)
• No on-call or call-back responsibilities
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
• Teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma, Chest Pain, and Stroke Center designations
• Responsibilities include caring for adult Med/Surg and Telemetry patients and managing specialized equipment and drips
• Strong team-oriented environment with 24/7 support from charge nurses, CNAs, unit secretaries, hospitalists, intensivists, discharge nurses, and resource team
• Most units require RNs to collect blood from CVLs and assist with phlebotomy
• One-day facility orientation and two days of departmental orientation provided
• Scrub color for RNs is navy blue
• Unit has a busy, team-oriented culture
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
• Current BLS certification required
• Proficiency with trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucometer use, and managing common drips (Insulin, Heparin, HR-titrated drips)
• Experience using Epic EMR is preferred
