Job Details
  • Work 12-hour shifts with variable start times of 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM
  • Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)
  • Holiday requirements of at least 2-3 shifts during winter, otherwise typically every other holiday during the contract
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4 during the day, with higher ratios at night after 11:00 PM; after 3:00 AM only 2 RNs until 7:00 AM
  • Rotate variable start times; manager creates schedule and will try to avoid 1 on and 1 off scheduling
  • 2 years of emergency department experience required
  • Michigan nursing license required and must be in hand prior to start
  • Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), TNCC
  • Work in a 14-bed emergency department with 2 trauma bays and a Fast Track area with 3 designated rooms
  • Triage duties available after review and understanding of facility policies and procedures
  • Common patient diagnoses include traumas, STEMIs, strokes, hunting injuries, MVAs, and farm-related injuries
  • ED physician on-site 24/7 along with mid-level providers
  • Respiratory therapy available in-house 24/7 for ABGs, breathing treatments, and EKGs
  • 24/7 phlebotomy services available for lab draws
  • X‑ray located down the hall and available 24/7; CT located nearby
  • No monitor technician; RNs responsible for reading their own strips at central monitoring station
  • Float to inpatient areas for helping hands as needed
  • Dress code: any solid color scrubs, clean and professional appearance required
  • Orientation includes computer-based training, 2 days of floor orientation, and department‑specific policy review
  • Must clock in and out at the facility
  • Cancellation policy: client may cancel up to 12 hours every 13 weeks

This acute care facility operates a fully equipped emergency department providing comprehensive emergency services to the surrounding community. The emergency department features 14 beds, 2 trauma bays, a Fast Track area, and dedicated triage rooms, with 24/7 support from ED physicians, respiratory therapy, and phlebotomy services. The facility is a Level IV Trauma Center serving a diverse patient population with access to on‑site imaging and a range of clinical support staff including CNAs, medics, and LPNs.
