Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Level III NICU RN for a night shift in Louisiana. You will work in a high-acuity NICU with 1:2-3 patient ratios and require delivery attendance experience along with at least 3 years of NICU nursing.

You must hold an LA or compact RN license, BLS and NRP, and be comfortable with Epic charting, neonatal IV access, and coordinating care with a multidisciplinary team. This travel assignment offers housing support and competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Active LA or Compact RN license required at time of consideration.
• BLS and NRP certifications required.
• Minimum 3 years of NICU nursing experience required.
• Prior delivery attendance experience required.
• Travel experience required - no first time travelers.
• Epic charting experience required.
• Skilled in neonatal IV placement, lab draws, ventilator and central line management.
• Experience with medication administration via multiple routes (IV, IM, SQ, ETT, OGT, NGT, oral, rectal, topical).
• Experience with blood product administration.

Responsibilities

• Level III NICU setting with patient ratios of 1:2-3.
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 18:45-7:15.
• Self-scheduling with every other weekend obligation.
• Holiday coverage required: at least 1 major and 1 minor holiday.
• Float requirement to NOU (1:4-6 ratios) and normal newborn nursery.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Attend high-risk vaginal and cesarean deliveries and assist with newborn transition.
• Admit and discharge neonates in NICU and NOU settings.
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary team including NNP, MD, RN, social services, RT, radiology, and OT.
• Provide parent education and breastfeeding support.
• Assist with procedures including chest tube insertion, PICC/UAC/UVC placement, intubation, and exchange transfusions.
• Perform CBG and ABG draws, and assist with x-rays, ultrasounds, echocardiograms, and EEGs.
• Administer nitric oxide and manage oxygen delivery systems.
• Purple/grape scrub color required.
• Candidates living within 75 miles are considered local and eligible at the local rate.
• Previous LCMC facility permanent employees must have a 1-year separation before being eligible for travel assignment.
