Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a Level III Neonatal ICU in California. Requires 2+ years RN experience with at least 1 year NICU, active CA RN license, BLS/NRP, and PALS. Travel nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities include care of high-risk neonates, APGAR scoring, and family-centered care; night shifts with 3x12s and 1:2–3 ratio. Epic EMR experience is required; benefits include housing allowances and per diem support.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required.
• BLS and NRP certifications required; candidates willing to obtain advanced certification will be considered.
• PALS certification required.
• Minimum 2 years RN experience with at least 1 year NICU exposure.
• Travel nursing experience preferred; may consider 2+ years NICU without travel.
• Community hospital experience required.
• Experience with IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, UAC/UVC, neonatal meds administration.
• Ventilator management and respiratory support modalities including CPAP/HFNC/oscillators/Vapotherm.
• Therapeutic hypothermia, NEC and neonatal sepsis management experience preferred.
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year within last 3 years required.
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Level III NICU with ~190 births per month in an acute care hospital.
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 6:00 PM–6:30 AM).
• Patient ratio of 1:2–3.
• May float to Mother/Baby unit; full float potential with couplet care experience.
• No on-call requirements.
• Weekend rotation every other weekend; may exceed to meet unit needs.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Provide comprehensive NICU care including attending high-risk deliveries, APGAR scoring, and developmental care.
• Manage neonates from <24 weeks to >34 weeks gestation.
• Support family-centered care including patient/family teaching and breastfeeding support.
• May float between sister Providence facilities.
• Scrub color navy blue for RNs.
• Free on-site parking.
• Must commit to 3 of 5 major holidays; RTO requests upfront.
