Job Summary

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse position available in a healthcare facility. This role involves providing specialized nursing care to premature and critically ill newborns in a Level 4 NICU setting. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing complex patient cases, adhering to clinical protocols, and working within a multidisciplinary team.

Job Details

• Schedule: 12-hour days shifts; 36 hours per week, with 4 weekend shifts required every 4 weeks. Holiday coverage is based on unit needs.
• Required Qualifications: Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); minimum of 3 years of neonatal intensive care nursing experience; valid license to submit; willing to wait for licensure; current certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
• Preferred Qualifications: Cardiac stability experience; previous travel experience; familiarity with Cerner electronic medical record system; credentialed as a high risk RN resource.
• Additional Information:
  • Unit features 71 beds, including 17 step-down beds, with private rooms.
  • Nurse staffing ratios are 1:2 in intensive care and 1:3 in level 2 areas.
  • The environment includes managing premature infants, genetic disorders, cardiac defects, surgical cases, ECMO, and cooling therapies.
  • Equipment includes Phillips ventilators; hospitalist or intensivist in-house coverage with neonatologists and midlevels 24/7; NICU pharmacy available during daytime shifts.
  • Floating to mother-baby and labor care units may be required; floor-specific orientation lasts 2-3 days.
  • Unit mandates completion of SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion and competencies in sterile field, lifts, restraints, and wound care.
  • The hospital reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for shorter durations.
