Medical Surgical with Telemetry (MS TELE) nurse position in the healthcare setting. This role involves providing specialized patient care on a dedicated neurology and neuroscience unit, with a focus on stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, and head injury cases. The position requires expertise in trauma and telemetry monitoring, working a night shift schedule.

Job Details

• Certifications, Education Requirements, Degree, Location, and Experience: BLS (American Heart Association), NIHSS certification; active Illinois license or approved application process; minimum of 1-year experience required; previous travel experience on neuro units and level 1 trauma experience required.
• Shift: Nights, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Additional Information:
  • Must have previous experience working on dedicated neuro units with trauma experience.
  • Must have heparin tolerance for titrating drips, including heparin administration based on PTT.
  • Charge nurses are on duty 24/7, do not take assignments unless necessary.
  • Nurse:Patient ratios during the night shift are 1:5-6, with additional tech support.
  • RNs are required to troubleshoot high flow oxygen devices for stable COVID cases and read telemetry strips on Phillips monitors.
  • Orientation includes 2 days for unit-specific training and computer systems.
  • Floating in rotation with the staff; outside skills should be competent for specific unit needs.
  • No scrub color requirement; tattoos covered; piercings limited to ears.
  • No call or standby requirements, and every other weekend and holiday work are scheduled.
  • Charting system used is EPIC.
