Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Newburgh, Indiana.

Job Summary

Medical Surgical Floor Registered Nurse (RN) Days This position is based at a tertiary teaching hospital in a clinical setting that manages complex medical-surgical and oncology patient populations. The RN will provide direct patient care for a 32-bed unit, supporting patients with crossover care needs such as GI, GU, and general surgery. The role involves critical assessment, complex procedures, and potentially precepting students and new hires within a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

Job Details

• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, days, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.

Float

First to float with skillset within the campus. Cross-campus float to ancillary hospital with 2-hour notice; intra-campus float within same campus as needed, unlikely cross-campus mid-shift float.

On Call/Call Back Requirement

Not required.

Weekend/Holiday Requirement

Three weekends out of every six-week schedule; every other holiday.

Required Qualifications

• Current active compact license
• Current AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications
• Minimum of two years of strong Med/Surg experience including trauma level II background
• Recent EPIC charting experience (will require checkoff class)
• Associate degree or certificate

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with PIV insertion
• Chest tube/indwelling drain management
• CBI
• Stable drips (heparin, Lasix, Protonix)
• Epidural management
• PEGs/NGs
• Ostomy care, post-Whipple procedures, neutropenic precautions
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills

Pay package

Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
