Job summary

UPMC's Physician Network is seeking a Medical Assistant who will float among multiple physician practices in Erie. This full-time role is typically 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, with travel across Erie to various locations.

Candidates should be adaptable and eager to gain exposure to multiple practices. Responsibilities include patient flow, vitals, record management in HIPAA-compliant manner, room prep, phlebotomy, EKGs, and assisting physicians.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Check schedules and organizing patient flow. Accompany patients to exam/procedure room and assist as needed.
• Take vitals, collect patient information/history and relay instructions to patients/families.
• Send/receive patient records in compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
• Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment, and maintain infection control between visits.
• Manage inventory of supplies and restock exam/procedure rooms.
• Comply with regulatory requirements (OSHA, CLIA, PA Dept of Health) and maintain confidentiality.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs; assist physicians with procedures.
• Answer calls and provide patient education as directed.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports, schedule appointments, verify insurance, and manage charts.
