Job summary

UPMC is hiring a limited casual Medical Assistant to the UPMC Community Medicine Incorporated team in Pittsburgh. This role supports physicians across specialties with hands-on patient care and clerical duties.

Shift is Monday–Friday, 12–40 hours weekly, with no weekends or holidays. Travel up to 25% to assist other local offices; training includes EpicCare, injections, vitals, phlebotomy, and clinical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Check schedules and organize patient flow.
• Assist patients with walking, transfers, and exam prep.
• Take vitals, collect history, and perform screenings.
• Send/receive patient records per HIPAA regulations.
• Prepare and clean exam rooms and maintain infection control.
• Manage inventory of supplies and restock rooms.
• Comply with OSHA, CLIA, PA Dept. of Health requirements.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and basic labs.
• Handle calls and provide patient education as directed.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports and referral information.
• Complete forms and requisitions; schedule appointments.
• Prepare and manage charts for filing.
• Under physician supervision, administer injectable medications and vaccines.
