Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a Med/Surg Tele RN for a Level II Trauma Center in CT. The role requires telemetry experience and a CT or Compact RN license, with first-time travelers welcome.

The unit handles post‑op cardiothoracic and general surgery cases with a 3x12 day shift. Travelers participate in campus rotations, Epic charting, and a 1:5 patient ratio, with comprehensive benefits and housing support.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (CT or Compact) currently in hand.
• BLS certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience required, though candidates with 1.5 years and Level I trauma or travel experience may be considered.
• Telemetry experience required.
• IV therapy, central/PICC line care, and blood product administration preferred.
• Chest tube management, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration preferred.
• Cardiac drips, PCA, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management preferred.
• Epic charting experience preferred.
• Charge RN and teaching hospital experience preferred.
• 1 professional reference required.

Responsibilities

• Med/Surg Tele unit caring for post-op patients including CABG, TAVR, general surgery, bariatric, and thoracic cases
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 0700-1930
• Floating required as needed, which may include the Milford Campus
• Works every other weekend and rotates holidays per department needs
• Uses Epic for charting
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Provide telemetry monitoring and post-surgical care for cardiovascular, bariatric, and thoracic patients
• Part of the Yale New Haven Health System
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Free parking available onsite
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates not accepted if residing within 75 miles of the facility
• Previous staff must be separated from permanent employment for 2 years before returning as a traveler
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required except for religious or medical exemptions
