Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Tele Float RN for a Level II Trauma Center in Missouri, with an active MO or compact RN license and 2 years of nursing experience. Night shifts are 3x12s, with Epic charting used for patient care across Med/Surg, Telemetry, and Orthopedics.

The role includes travel requirements, a free parking facility, and a travel pay rate with housing and licensure support. Local candidates may receive a reduced pay rate and must meet distance criteria.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (MO State or Compact) required, pending license accepted if active and in-hand prior to start.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required.
• BSN preferred.
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, CPI, NIHSS, and Tele/EKG exam.
• Epic charting experience preferred.
• Previous travel experience preferred.
• Skilled in IV therapy, central line and PICC management, blood product administration, and telemetry monitoring.
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy management preferred.
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response/code team protocols.
• Two professional references required for consideration.
• Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Float position covering Med/Surg, MS/Tele, Telemetry, and Orthopedics units
• Works in a Level II Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center setting
• Night shift schedule: 3x12 hours, 1900-0700
• Uses Epic charting system
• Patient population includes cardiovascular, orthopedic, neurological, and general med/surg cases
• Provide nursing care across multiple float units including Med/Surg, Tele, and Orthopedics
• Facility offers more than 60 hospital and area clinics providing urgent, primary, specialty, and emergency care
• Only tertiary hospital between Kansas City and Omaha
• Free parking provided
• Local candidates accepted at a reduced pay rate
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate
• Previous employees must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• RTO must be submitted at time of application
• Module orientation (up to 4 hours) completed through MyPath during orientation
