Job summary

Fusion Medical Staffing-Nursing seeks a travel nurse RN in Med Surg for a 13-week assignment in Springfield, IL. Start date 10/12/2026, 36 hours/week, 12-hour shifts (days). Opportunity to impact patient care while working with a supportive clinical team and competitive pay.

The role requires 1 year Med Surg RN experience, IL RN license, and current BLS. NIHSS and ACLS are preferred certifications, with additional licenses possibly required.

Qualifications

• One year of recent Med Surg RN experience
• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Current BLS (AHA/ARC) Certification

Responsibilities

• Explain procedures and treatments to patients and families, addressing concerns and ensuring understanding
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments adhering to nursing standards
• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ conditions, documenting changes and reporting concerns
• Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures, assist physicians during treatments, and monitor responses
• Maintain a safe environment for patients recovering from medical conditions or surgery
• Document patient information, including vital signs and care outcomes, in the medical record
• Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, and social workers to create individualized care plans
• Manage multiple patients, prioritizing care based on acuity and needs
• Ensure infection control practices, including hand hygiene and PPE use
• Advocate for patients’ needs and preferences within the care plan
• Coordinate discharge planning for smooth transition home
• Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice
• Adhere to hospital safety protocols and regulatory standards
