Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week travel assignment in California. You will join a Medical Surgical unit serving adult and geriatric patients with a 1:5 patient ratio and day/night/weekend responsibilities.

Active CA RN license with BLS and ACLS is required, along with Epic EMR experience documented in work history and prior travel nursing exposure. Two supervisor references are required.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required in-hand at time of application.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required in-hand.
• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in acute care and Med/Surg.
• Epic EMR experience required and documented in work history.
• Prior travel nursing experience required.
• Two supervisor references required.
• Experience with IV therapy, port access, blood product administration, PICC/peripheral line care, and starting/maintaining IVs.
• Experience managing GI conditions including bariatric surgery, bowel obstruction, and ostomy care.
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care.
• Experience with renal/genitourinary care including CBI and hemodialysis management.
• Experience managing cardiac drips, PCA, and interpreting/managing dysrhythmias.
• Telemetry monitoring and rapid response/code team experience.
• Wound care/wound vac and isolation precaution/PPE knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Medical Surgical unit caring for adult and geriatric patients.
• Patient ratio of 1:5 on days, nights, and weekends.
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM, Monday-Friday.
• Floating required.
• Weekend coverage required as needed.
• Care for patients across Med/Surg, Tele, Orthopedics, Cardiovascular, and Plastics specialties.
• Must be comfortable managing total joint replacement, post-angiogram, and surgical drain patients.
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role.
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as travelers.
• Former permanent staff must have been separated from the facility for at least one year to return as a traveler.
