Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Mammography Technologist for a 13-week contract in North Carolina. The ideal candidate will have an Associate's degree in Radiologic Sciences and ARRT registration or eligibility with registration within one year of hire.

The position requires current BLS, knowledge of radiographic procedures, and experience with PACS/RIS. Responsibilities include performing routine mammography, patient assessments, and QA of images in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or completion of an accredited Radiologic Sciences Program required.
• Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologies, or registry eligible with registration required within one year of hire.
• Registry eligible candidates must provide a copy of diploma from accredited program.
• Must maintain registry status and continuing education requirements annually.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Knowledge of radiographic procedures, contrast media, and medications.
• Experience with PACS, RIS, and image management equipment.

Responsibilities

• Hospital-based Mammography department performing routine mammography diagnostic and screening procedures.
• 5x8 hour day shifts from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
• No call, weekend, or holiday requirements.
• Uses PACS and RIS systems for image management and documentation.
• Prepares and administers contrast media and medications in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
• Performs patient assessments, verifies patient identity and pregnancy status, and provides instruction in self-breast examination.
• Ensures procedure environment safety including equipment checks and cleanliness.
• Troubleshoots work unit equipment and protocol issues.
• Critiques, orients, and transmits QA-ed images to PACS.
• Documents procedure completion or cancellation in RIS.
• Evaluates requisitions and patient information to ensure procedure accuracy.
• Precepts new employees and students.
