Job summary

Focus Staff is seeking a travel Mammography Technologist for a Reno, NV assignment. The role involves performing screening and diagnostic mammography with patient-centered care, adherence to safety protocols, and collaboration with engineering staff for optimal equipment performance.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program, ARRT and ARRT-M certification, BLS, and state licensure if required. 13-week contract with 40 hours/week and a call-for-info shift.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• Current ARRT certification required.
• Current Mammography certification (ARRT-M) required.
• Current state licensure if required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum 1–2 years of recent Mammography Technologist experience preferred.
• Experience performing screening and diagnostic mammography procedures preferred.

Responsibilities

• Uses AIDET approach to communicate with patients and identify exam requirements.
• Explains tests to patients and families and assesses tolerance of the exam.
• Positions patient and equipment to set exposure factors for mammography.
• Follows safety, infection-control, and radiation policies and uses sterile techniques as needed.
• Collaborates with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal equipment performance.
• Maintains required documentation such as requisitions and patient history.

Mammo Tech Requirements:

Mammo Tech Responsibilities:

• Utilizes AIDET when communicating with patients to: identify patient service requirements, ensure correct exam is performed on the correct patient, and establish rapport with patients and others.
• Instructs/communicates with patient and/or patient`s family regarding the test to be performed and assesses patient`s ability to tolerate exam.
• Prepares patient or area for mammography procedure by positioning patient, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into specified position and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
• Protects patients and employees by adhering to safety requirements, infection-control, drug and radiation policies, protocols and techniques. Uses proper sterile techniques when setting up and performing invasive mammography procedures and maintains hand hygiene requirements.
• Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operational capabilities of equipment. Reports issues to management or appropriate department.
• Obtains, verifies and maintains all relevant documentation such as requisition/chart, patient history, pregnancy status and shielding precautions taken, consent forms, etc
