Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an LPN/LVN for a long-term care facility in Alaska. This travel assignment requires an active Alaska license and prior travel experience, with LTC background and BLS certification. LTAC experience is preferred, and orientation includes a $10 Alaska Food Worker Certificate.

The role covers 40-bed LTC operations with a 1:20 patient load. Travel staff must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; housing and transportation support are provided per program terms.

Qualifications

• Current Alaska LPN/LVN license required in hand at submission.
• Minimum 1 year of LTC experience required.
• Current BLS certification required.
• LTAC experience preferred.
• Previous travel assignment experience required.
• Must obtain Alaska Food Worker Certification during on-site orientation (one-time $10 fee).
• Must provide 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Work in a long-term care (LTC) unit within a 40-bed long-term care facility.
• Patient ratio of 1:20.
• Shifts: 4x12, nights or days, no rotation except for urgent staffing needs.
• May float within scope to other units or sister facilities as needed.
• Responsibilities include admissions, status changes to RN/MD, isolation precautions, vital signs, ambulation, skin and mouth care, glucose monitoring, medication administration, respiratory care, feeding tube care, and Foley catheter insertion.
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role.
• Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible.
• Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period if living outside the 50-mile radius.
• No more than 2 weeks of RTO for a 26-week contract; RTO must be submitted upfront.
• Must work at least 2 of the 3 major winter holidays.
• Facility provides shuttle to/from Anchorage and local Seward shuttle; free parking on-site.
• Facility does not accept candidates with Nursys or background check hits.

• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role


• Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible


• Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they live outside the 50-mile radius
