Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP)
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) team. This role involves delivering safe, high-quality, patient- and family-centered care through the full nursing process.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and create individualized care plans.
- Administer direct patient care throughout the lifespan to promote optimal health outcomes.
- Provide clear and culturally sensitive education to patients and families, ensuring health literacy and successful transitions of care.
- Supervise and guide licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants, and other ancillary personnel.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary care team.
- Participate in quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and ongoing professional development.
- Float to other departments as needed, with appropriate orientation and training.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support hospital operations and patient needs.
- Current RN license in New Mexico or valid Multi-State Compact (eNLC) license.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (or equivalent).
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Education and clinical experience that provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for the LDRP department.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to provide compassionate, culturally competent care to patients of all ages.
- Strong team player with flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to professional growth and lifelong learning.
- Frequent exposure to bloodborne pathogens, body fluids, infectious diseases, and biohazardous materials.
- Work primarily occurs in a temperature-controlled hospital setting, with occasional exposure to varied sounds, odors, and emotionally challenging situations.
- Must be physically capable of lifting, positioning, and transferring patients using proper body mechanics and assistive equipment.
- Ability to work effectively under stress, respond calmly to emergencies, and maintain strong problem-solving and coping skills.
- Team-oriented, adaptable, and resilient in dynamic clinical situations.
- Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certifications required.
- OPS Emergency Workshop and STABLE certification required within 12 months of hire.
- SAFER NM Technician certification preferred.
- Proficient in all aspects of perinatal care, labor support, delivery, and newborn assessment.
- Knowledge of sterile technique and sterile field maintenance.
This position requires 12-hour night shifts, with possible coverage on holidays and weekends.
One year of relevant nursing experience is preferred.
