American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in Omaha, Nebraska. The role requires a NE or compact RN license, BLS, and NRP certification, with a 13-week travel assignment and 36 hours per week on a night shift.

The travel nurse will work in an acute care setting with a team including OB techs and educators. Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility and be able to pass orientation exams.

Qualifications

• Active NE or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted.
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience, including couplet care.
• Certifications: BLS and NRP.
• Ability to manage antepartum and laboring patients including inductions, vaginal and C-section deliveries.

Responsibilities

• Care for high-risk OB, antepartum, laboring, postpartum and couplet care patients.
• Triage, monitor labor and support delivery events.
• Assist with C-sections as circulator and provide postpartum care.
• Adhere to unit guidelines and ensure patient safety and comfort.
• Float between L&D and postpartum as needed; communicate effectively with team.

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a NE or compact RN license, BLS, and NRP certification.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care Labor & Delivery setting with 10 labor beds and 16 postpartum beds
• Care for high-risk OB, antepartum, laboring, postpartum, and couplet care patients
• Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
• Required to work every third weekend, with potential for every other weekend based on unit needs
• Floating between L&D and postpartum units as needed
• Adheres to AWHONN staffing guidelines
• Utilizes Epic EMR; experience preferred
• Team includes OB techs, PRN nurse aides, educators, managers, NICU supervisor, and perinatal safety specialist
• Responsibilities include managing high-risk obstetric patients, triage assessment, monitoring labor, assisting with c-sections as circulator, and couplet postpartum care
• Must be a strong team player with excellent critical thinking and communication skills
• Classroom and orientation include 2-3 floor shifts to ensure unit readiness
• Navy blue scrubs are required for this position
• Artificial fingernails are prohibited in patient care areas and refusal to comply will result in termination
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• First-time travelers are considered
• Busy unit with a supportive and collaborative team environment

Requirements

• Active NE or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience, including couplet care
• Certifications required: BLS (AHA) and NRP
• Ability to independently manage antepartum and laboring patients, including inductions, vaginal and c-section deliveries, triage, and post-partum care
• Driver's license required for verification of 50-mile radius eligibility
• May not have been employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
• References required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years
• Ability to pass a 90% or above on an open-book skills exam during orientation with termination for failure
