Magnet Medical is seeking a Labor & Delivery RN for travel assignments in Omaha, NE. The position involves providing comprehensive L&D care, including labor support, delivery assistance, and postpartum education, with a focus on high-quality patient care.

The RN will monitor maternal and fetal status, administer medications, support the birth process, and document care in the electronic health record, collaborating with obstetricians and the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Pre-Labor and Admission Assessment: assess and monitor health of pregnant women, collect histories, vital signs, and physical assessments.
• Labor Support and Monitoring: monitor labor progress, cervical dilation, fetal heart rate, maternal vitals; administer medications incl. epidurals, Pitocin; provide pain relief and comfort.
• Assisting with Delivery: assist obstetricians/midwives during vaginal deliveries; participate in cesarean sections; provide immediate newborn care.
• Postpartum Care: monitor mother and newborn postpartum, support breastfeeding, educate on self-care and newborn care.
• Documentation and Reporting: record assessments, interventions, medications, and progress in EHR; maintain accurate labor/delivery records.
• Collaboration and Communication: work with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists; inform families about progress and consent.
• Infection Control and Safety: maintain sterile environment; ensure equipment sterilization and proper function.
• Emergency and High-Risk Situations: recognize complications and escalate care; respond to obstetric emergencies; manage high-risk pregnancies.
• Patient Education and Advocacy: educate families on labor/delivery options and postpartum recovery; support informed decision-making.
