Job summary

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a Labor and Delivery RN for a 13-week travel assignment in New Haven, CT. You will provide comprehensive obstetric care, monitor fetal status, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe labor, delivery, and postpartum care.

The role offers nights—3 days x 12 hours—with competitive weekly pay and a benefits package designed for travel nurses. Start date on schedule with supportive clinical staff and resources to succeed.

Qualifications

• Strong clinical skills in obstetric nursing and maternal-fetal care.
• Excellent communication with patients, families, and teams.
• Ability to follow obstetric nursing protocols and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families, providing reassurance and addressing concerns.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved obstetric nursing techniques.
• Prepare equipment and aid physician during labor, delivery, and examination of patients.
• Provide immediate postpartum care, including assessment and stabilization of mother and newborn.
• Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
• Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members to deliver cohesive care.
• Respond to obstetric emergencies, including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, or fetal distress, using evidence-based protocols.
• Document patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately in the medical record.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes.
• Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results.
• Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures.
• Comply with all regulatory standards, including hospital policies, state laws, and federal guidelines for obstetric nursing care.
• Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of labor and delivery nursing.
