Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist Physicians in performing minimally invasive, image-guided procedures including but not limited to cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, angiography, device implantation, biopsies, thrombectomy, embolization and pain management.
  • Transfers images and data to the electronic health system, documents findings and prepares study for physician reporting.
  • Maintains sterile field and safety protocols.
  • Assists with patient preparation and comfort.
  • Performs quality control checks and equipment maintenance as required.
  • Provides on-call coverage outside regular hours on weekdays, weekends and holidays.

The Interventional Technologist I assists Physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided procedures to diagnose, monitor and treat simple to complex conditions, defects and/or diseases without surgery. This position is intended for those who are gaining experience in Interventional Radiology or Invasive Cardiology or are experienced Imaging professionals who wish to begin a career in the discipline.

  • Assists Providers in performing minimally invasive, image-guided procedures including but not limited to cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, angiography, device implantation, biopsies, thrombectomy, embolization and pain management.
  • Utilizes a variety of highly specialized radiologic equipment and techniques to perform a diverse range of diagnostic, interventional and/or invasive procedures in accordance with established scope of practice guidelines.
  • Ensures procedures are performed safely and with the highest quality standards, maintaining a consistent focus centric care.
  • Assists in preparing patients for on patient procedures and providing comfort.
  • Acts as a scrub tech while assisting Providers during procedures
  • Maintains a strict sterile field adhering to safety protocols.
  • Responds to inquiries from patients and family members, provides clear information regarding diagnostic testing and expected result timelines.
  • Collaborates with team members across OU Health including Providers to provide exceptional patient care.
  • Conducts post-testing quality reviews to confirm that all required elements are completed, documented and align with departmental and accreditation standards.
  • Transfers images and data to the appropriate electronic health system, enters technical data/findings and prepares study for reporting by physician.
  • Performs quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting and other equipment maintenance tasks per manufacturer instructions for use and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Assists with quality assurance, audits and performance improvement tasks as requested.
  • Provides on-call clinical coverage outside regularly scheduled duty hours on weekdays, weekends and holidays as assigned.
  • May support OU Health's academic partnerships by actively engaging in teaching of students in the radiologic program.
  • May serve as a departmental preceptor to provide instruction and mentorship to new or less experienced team members.
  • Assists with onboarding of new team members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education: A graduate of post-secondary educational program in health science (includes, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, or paramedic/EMT) as defined by ARRT or CCI. Completion of JRCERT accredited Military Educational Program is accepted in lieu of other educational requirements.

Required Certifications & Licensure: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire. ARRT(RT), RCES or RCIS certification required within 18 months of hire.
