ARMStaffing is seeking a travel nurse RN in the Stepdown specialty for Wheeling, West Virginia. This 13-week contract offers 36 hours per week with 12-hour rotating shifts in the Intermediate Care Unit.

The RN will provide comprehensive care, perform telemetry interpretation, manage multiple patients, titrate drips, and collaborate with in-house teams. Requires RN license, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; prior travel experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Current RN license valid in WV or active licensure in a similar state.
• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications required.
• Experience in stepdown/ICU and telemetry patient care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care with medication administration and monitoring.
• Read telemetry strips and respond to changes in patient status.
• Titrate drips and collaborate with IV and Pharmacy teams.
• Float as needed to other units per schedule.

Registered Nurse - Intermediate Care UnitAssignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

12-hour shifts with a rotating schedule between day and night, including weekends as scheduled.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse will provide comprehensive care to patients in the Intermediate Care Unit. This unit features 30 beds (14 private and 16 semi-private) and focuses on managing patients requiring intermediate care acuity. The nurse will be involved in diverse patient populations, including those experiencing chest pain, heart failure, arrhythmias, and care before and after catheterization procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including medication administration and monitoring patient conditions.
• Maintain a ratio typically ranging from 1:5 to 1:6 patients per nurse.
• Work alongside charge nurses, clinical assistants, and other staff to ensure optimal patient care.
• Read, interpret, and document telemetry strips, with the assistance of telemetry technicians.
• Titrate drips such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro, among others.
• Collaborate with the IV Team and Pharmacy, available in-house 24/7.
• Participate in a flexible scheduling arrangement, including a requirement to float as necessary to other units.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
