American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Stepdown/Telemetry position in Morgantown, WV. Candidate must hold WV or compact RN license and have Epic EMR experience. The assignment is 13 weeks with a 36-hour workweek and 12-hour night shifts.

Unit is a 24-bed stepdown in a Level 1 trauma center with telemetry monitoring and complex patient care needs. Travel compensation includes per diem and reimbursements.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of stepdown or acute care RN experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Proficiency with Epic EMR
• Strong assessment skills in fast-paced trauma environment
• Basic ability to interpret EKGs

Responsibilities

• Work in a 24-bed stepdown unit within an acute care setting at a Level 1 trauma center
• Care for trauma, med/surg, brain and spinal cord injuries, respiratory compromise, complex wounds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:3 with three clinical aides per shift
• All beds have telemetry; RNs perform basic EKG interpretation
• Titrate drips and manage vents and cardizem/labetalol/amiodarone
• Responsible for Epic EMR documentation and charting

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown/Telemetry position in a Level 1 trauma acute care unit requiring a WV or compact RN license and EPIC experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 24-bed stepdown unit within an acute care setting at a Level 1 trauma center
• Patient population includes trauma, med/surg, brain and spinal cord injuries, respiratory compromise, complex wounds, chronic ventilator dependence, and advanced diabetic management
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:3, supported by three clinical aides per shift
• All 24 beds have telemetry monitoring and require basic EKG interpretation by RNs
• Common interventions include bipap, CPAP, chronic ventilators, blood gas interpretation, tracheostomy care, and titration of drips such as cardizem, labetalol, and amiodarone
• Uses Epic as the electronic medical record; Epic experience is required
• Night shift position, 12-hour shifts (7p–7:30a), with weekend and holiday rotation
• Floating required on a rotational basis within the unit
• The unit provides specialized care for trauma and complex med/surg patients, including advanced wound and respiratory management
• Charge nurses and 24/7 house supervisors are available for support
• All RNs must wear royal blue scrubs
• Unit orientation with a clinical preceptor will be provided
• Holiday shifts are managed on a rotational basis
• No on-call requirements for this assignment
• First-time travelers will be considered
• Candidates must pass EKG testing if assigned to stepdown
• Returning candidates must meet rehire guidelines specific to previous employment within the health system

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license
• Minimum of 2 years of stepdown or acute care RN experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Proficiency with Epic EMR
• Strong assessment skills and adaptability to a fast-paced trauma environment
• Basic ability to interpret EKGs
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility for eligibility
• Previous permanent employees must have a 2-year break before returning and prior travelers must be gone 2 years if worked a full year
