Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an ICU RN for a 24-bed stepdown unit in Falls Church, VA. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of ICU experience and holds a VA or Compact RN license. Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required; Epic EMR experience is preferred.

Expect a 1:3 patient ratio with D/N rotations, weekends every 6 weeks, and travel-friendly floating with priority to travelers. A 3‑day floor orientation is provided, plus holiday coverage on a rotating schedule.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (VA or Compact)
• Current BLS (AHA) and ACLS certifications
• Minimum 2 years ICU experience

Responsibilities

• Stepdown ICU unit with 24 beds
• Patient ratio of 1:3 with up to 3 patients per nurse
• Common patient population includes respiratory disease, neurological disorders, chronic illnesses, and COVID cases
• Manages drips including insulin, cardizem, heparin, Lasix, precedex, and low dose pressors
• Uses Epic EMR
• D/N rotation shift schedule
• Weekend requirement of 5 shifts every 6 weeks
• Floating required with priority given to travelers
• 3-day floor orientation
• Provide critical care nursing support on a stepdown unit
• Holiday coverage required on a rotating every-other-holiday basis
• Scrub requirement: navy blue or solid white tops and pants, with jackets in solid navy blue or white, and long sleeve undershirts limited to navy or white
