Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring an experienced ICU RN with liver transplant experience for a Surgical ICU night shift position in Virginia. Active VA or compact RN license is required upon consideration.

Responsibilities include 3x12 hour night shifts (19:00–07:00), 1:2 patient ratio, Epic charting, and potential floating within scope. Travel nursing experience is required; BSN preferred with ACEN/CCNE pathways accepted.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (VA or compact) required in hand at time of consideration.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Minimum 1 year ICU experience required, 3 years preferred.
• Liver transplant experience required.
• Epic charting experience required.
• BSN preferred, though diploma and Associate degree graduates from ACEN or CCNE accepted.
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred.
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred.
• Prior travel nursing experience required.
• Skills in IV therapy, central/arterial/PICC line management, ventilator management, CRRT, vasoactive drip titration, and cardiac monitoring.
• 2 professional references required.

Responsibilities

• Surgical ICU specializing in liver transplant care.
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00-7:00.
• 1:2 patient ratio.
• Uses Epic charting system.
• Floating within scope as needed.
• Provide critical care nursing to liver transplant and surgical ICU patients, including post‑op recovery and surgical care.
• Candidates must not have been employed by the health system within the previous 12 months to be eligible to return as a traveler.
• Facility maintains a natural nail policy.
• Facility is a drug, tobacco, and smoke‑free workplace.
• All candidates must complete orientation modules by the end of their first week on the unit.
• Background checks will be reviewed by the facility.
• Local candidates accepted at the same base rate with no radius restrictions.
• First‑time travel nurses welcome to apply given required experience is met.
• RTO requests must be submitted upfront for manager approval; no time off granted during the first week of assignment.
