American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced ICU/PCU RN for a travel assignment in Washington. Requires 2+ years ICU experience and a WA or compact RN license, plus BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Nights, 36 hours/week, self-scheduling with manager balancing; travel bonus and benefits provided. Unit features include 10 ICU beds (census 5) and 22 PCU beds with diverse patient mix, EPIC EMR, Plum/IV pumps, Pyxis, and Philips monitors.

Qualifications

• Active WA or compact RN license required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required.
• Charge nurse experience if charge duties are requested.
• Strong peripheral IV skills preferred.
• Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation required.
• Invasive line management experience (CVP, A-lines) required.
• IV medication titration skills required.
• Knowledge of vent/trach/high-flow BiPap management required (RT manages devices).
• Responsible for own central line draws.

Responsibilities

• Combined ICU/PCU unit in a 107-bed hospital.
• 10 ICU beds with average census of 5, caring for manually proned, intubated, and paralyzed patients on multiple drips.
• 22 PCU beds, with ICU nurses frequently caring for PCU-level patients for the majority of the contract.
• Patient population includes sepsis, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, GI bleeds, ETOH/IVDA, SI, psych, COVID, stable CVA/TBI, and CVICU cases.
• Surgical patients include ortho and general surgery cases.
• ICU RNs trained to perform short dialysis runs; no CRRT, open hearts, or neuro interventions.
• ICU patient ratio 1:2; PCU ratio 1:4 (may increase to 1:4 or 1:5-6 during surges).
• 12-hour night shifts (1900-0730), 36 hours per week.
• Floating to Med/Surg, ER, and occasionally Mother Baby in turn with staff.
• Traveler telemetry competency exam required prior to start.
• Holiday coverage 1-2 holidays per season; Navy blue scrubs required; free parking.
