Job summary

Talentburst,-Inc seeks a Travel Histotechnician in Grand Rapids, MI for a 13-week assignment. Shift is Monday-Friday, 2 pm-10:30 pm; ASCP HT certification is required. Weekly 40 hours.

Responsibilities include slide preparation, accessioning, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, H&E staining, coverslipping, and quality/safety compliance. Minimum qualifications include an ASCP HT certification or eligible, and either A.A./A.S.

Qualifications

• HT (ASCP) certification required.
• ASCP eligible accepted or five years of histology experience in last 10 years.

Responsibilities

• Prepare slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologists.
• Process paperwork for accessioning and reporting.
• Ensure proper tissue processing and embedding/microtomy for defined specimen types.
• Prepare slides for H&E staining and perform coverslipping.
• Perform special stains under supervisor approval.
• Maintain routine non-complex equipment and clean work areas.
• Adhere to CLIA, CAP, safety, and quality control standards.

Job title: Travel Histotechnician

1. 1. Under general supervision and according to policies and procedures, perform routine and non-routine activities involved in the preparation of slides, for microscopic evaluation by pathologist(s)
2. 2. Process paperwork associated with accessioning and reporting.
3. 3. Ensure proper tissue processing.
4. 4. Under general supervision, perform embedding and microtomy for select specimen types as defined by Histology Manager/Supervisor.
5. 5. Prepare slides for routine Hematoxylin and Eosin staining.
6. 6. Perform coverslipping of stained slides either manually or automated.
7. 7. Under general supervision, perform special stains under approval of/at discretion of Histology Manager/Supervisor.
8. 8. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of non-complex equipment.
9. 9. Perform filing of finished blocks and slides.
10. 10. Adhere to laboratory's quality control policies, and document all quality control activities.
11. 11. Ensure all corporate safety, quality control and quality assurance standards are met.
12. 12. Ensure compliance with all local, federal, CLIA and CAP regulations.
13. 13. Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
14. 14. Other duties, as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

1. 1. A.A., A.S. degree and one year of experience within the last 10 years, OR H.S. education or equivalent and 5 years full-time acceptable experience as a Histotechnician within the last 10 years.
2. 2. HT (ASCP) or ASCP eligible OR five years of full time experience in the last 10 years
