Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) seeks a Contractor in Charge to oversee construction, maintenance and safety compliance for freight railroads, transit systems, state DOTs, and partners in the Austin area.

The CIC will lead safety on worksites, perform briefings, monitor track operations, and coordinate with train crews, dispatchers and supervisors while ensuring FRA regulations are followed. Travel is a major component of this field role.

Qualifications

• Must have valid driver’s license.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a railroad company.
• Successfully completes all required training.

Responsibilities

• Oversee worksite safety and provide flagging services as needed.
• Conduct job briefings and ensure FRA 49 CFR 214 compliance during track work.
• Monitor track conditions, approaching trains, and work activities for safety.
• Coordinate train movements with dispatchers, engineers and supervisors.
• Document all activities, including briefings, reports, logs and forms.
• Enforce Railroad, State and Federal policies.
