Job summary

Amentum in Forest Park, GA is seeking a Firearm/Toolmark Examiner to support exploitation missions in the CONUS and OCONUS. This full-time role requires travel and deployment as needed to meet mission requirements.

Examiners will analyze evidence to identify make, model, origins, and serial numbers; assess tool marks with microscopy; generate detailed notes and reports; and collaborate with forensic staff to ensure high-quality results.

Qualifications

• 4 years’ experience in firearms and toolmark analysis in a forensic lab.
• Safe firearm handling, maintenance, and manufacturing methods.
• Experience using microscopes and measuring devices for comparisons.
• Ability to perform serial number restoration.
• Experience in technical and administrative case file review.

Responsibilities

• Examine evidence and render items safe.
• Identify make/model/origin and serial numbers from evidence.
• Analyze tool marks using magnification and imaging techniques.
• Capture images of evidence and exhibits for documentation.
• Submit to national databases and conduct quality checks.
• Write detailed notes and reports; review others' work.
