Job summary

McCall-Thomas Engineering is seeking a Plow Operator to support our construction crews in installing underground fiber optic cable and conduit. This 1099 contract role requires travel across GA, NC, and SC and involves operating cable plows and related equipment in outdoor environments.

Ideal candidates will have experience with utility construction, heavy equipment operation, and a strong commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Eligibility to work in the US without sponsorship.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record; CDL-A preferred.
• Experience operating cable plows or heavy equipment preferred.
• Telecom/underground construction experience highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Operate cable plows and related construction equipment for fiber optic installation projects.
• Install underground fiber optic cable, conduit, and related infrastructure per project specs.
• Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance on equipment.
• Read utility locates, construction plans, and route maps.
• Maintain awareness of underground utilities and follow safety requirements.
• Complete required paperwork and logs.
• Adhere to safety policies and regulations.
• Assist with general construction activities as needed.
